3x3 Beginner Method
Solve the 3x3 layer by layer with a handful of easy algorithms.
- 1. Introduction
Learn how the Rubik's Cube is built and why a layer-by-layer method with six core algorithms can solve it.
- 2. The Cross
Build the white cross on the bottom layer by moving the four white edges around the white center, with no set algorithms.
- 3. The White Corners
Finish the first layer by inserting each white corner beside the cross with a short three-move algorithm and its mirror.
- 4. The Second Layer
Fill the four middle-layer edges by aligning each edge, setting it up with a second layer algorithm, and then solving the white corner.
- 5. Orient Final Edges
Make a yellow cross on top with one algorithm that handles every arrangement of the last layer edges.
- 6. Orient Final Corners
Turn the top solid yellow with the Sune and Anti-Sune algorithms.
- 7. Position Final Corners
Match the last layer corners to their side colors by repeating one corner-swapping algorithm.
- 8. Position Final Edges
Finish the cube by cycling the last three edges with a single algorithm, used once or twice.
