Roux
Block building, CMLL, and the last six edges for a low move count.
- 1. Introduction
An overview of the Roux method, which builds two 1x2x3 blocks, solves the top corners, and finishes with the last six edges.
- 2. First Block
How to build the first 1x2x3 block in Roux by example, aiming for 8-10 moves.
- 3. Second Block
How to build the second 1x2x3 block opposite the first without disturbing it, with six example ideas.
- 4. CMLL (Top Corners)
Solve the top corners after both blocks are built, using 2-look CMLL or the full 42-algorithm CMLL set.
- 5. LSE: Edge Orientation
Orient the last six edges using only M and U turns, starting with the Arrow case and cycling the other ten cases into it.
- 6. LSE: Permute UL/UR
Place the UL and UR edges by moving them to the bottom layer without changing edge orientation, then bringing them back up with M2.
- 7. LSE: Permute M Slice
Finish the solve by permuting the last four edges in the M slice, covering 2 dots, 4 dots, and 3-edge cycles.
- 8. Example Solves
Three complete Roux solves with scrambles, move-by-move explanations, and a stepping cube to follow each solution.
- 9. Advanced Roux
Techniques that take a Roux solve further, including EOLR, non-matching blocks, second-block efficiency, and CMLL recognition, with links to experienced Roux solvers.
